Pål Gusdal Jomås is a Norwegian-born artist living in Victoria BC, Canada. He has an educational background at Bergen Academy of Art and Design, receiving an MFA in 2006. The work of Pål Gusdal Jomås takes shape from the act of seeing, appropriation and recording of interest. His works are often historical and stacked in the understanding of elements. His production ranges from photographic image to installation to drawing, printmaking, text work to video, Pål Gusdal Jomås's practice forms deeply in the selection process, understanding his visual boundaries and materials. The accumulation of recordings by drawing, writing, thinking, seeing, understanding, and photographing are a particular process of his work for the connection/disconnection he settles with. One of his work deal with how a city was whispering to him through the images, how the images were clues and markers of content about the city, connecting facts that were not openly visible, but present in the tactical approach. Recent image work is similar in that the independent titles of the works, impose that the real people in the images are playing themselves as characters of Calvino, simply connecting ideas over titles with a visual entry to force the narrative scenario but at the same time imposing a connection to a source of literature that complicates investment, and suggests that the photographic image can take part in a fictitious literary episode beyond itself.
